LINCOLN -- For the second time during his 2 1/2 years in office, State Treasurer Don Stenberg is asking the Nebraska Legislature to reduce his budget. Stenberg has told the Appropriations Committee electronic efficiencies in the Child Support Payment Center and Treasury Management Division have helped contribute to cost savings and a reduction of staff. Stenberg is asking the Legislature to reduce his overall budget by just over 1% and his general fund budget by more than 6 1/2%.
