LINCOLN -- Four hours of testimony on bills that would expand gay rights in Nebraska. They were before the Legislature's Judiciary Committee on Thursday that included a public hearing, where people were waiting to testify, after the committee adjourned for the day. The bill is sponsored by Lincoln Senator Danielle Conrad, where one bill would prevent businesses from discriminating against current or prospective employees based on their sexual orientation. Religious groups would not have to comply. The other bill would allow gay couples to adopt a child or become foster parents.
