Lincoln-based Web Company To Use New Conduit For Fiber Optics

LINCOLN -- The new conduit system recently installed in downtown Lincoln will be used by NebraskaLink, a Lincoln-based Internet provider to provide fiber optic services. NebraskaLink's CEO Paul Ludwick says if you look at a map of their state network, it covers 2,000 miles across Nebraska. Ludwick says they plan to enter the city's new conduit system on the west side of the city and work into the downtown area to UNL's city campus. Mayor Chris Beutler says the new conduit system will provide a new revenue stream for the city, as providers lease space. Services from NebraskaLink are available for business and public needs.  Ludwick says services aren't available for residential customers, but are in the process of exploring that idea.
