President Obama today (Monday) will nominate 66-year-old Chuck Hagel as his next Defense Secretary defying congressional opposition to the former Nebraska Republican senator. Hagel is a decorated Vietnam veteran who served 2 terms in the Senate. Even before his nomination, Hagel had come under tough criticism from former GOP colleagues over his stances on Israel and Iran. Still, Republican lawmakers have stopped short of saying they might block Hagel's nomination.
