Just two days into the New Year there have been two killings in Omaha. The latest involved police, who say the man killed yesterday (Tuesday) during a standoff in northeast Omaha was armed with a shotgun, made suicidal and threatening statements and held a child hostage. 31-year-old Tyree Bell of Omaha was shot by police early yesterday (Tuesday) morning after more than 2 hours of negotiations. Negotiators tried calming Bell down, but the situation deteriorated to the point where they believed Bell posed an immediate threat to officers and the child. At least 4 officers fired their weapons. An internal investigation has begun.
On Monday, 34-year-old Terry Knowles of Omaha was found shot at least twice. The investigation continues.
