A suspect is in custody in connection with a December 20th break-in at a Lincoln middle school. Bruce Sheltraw-Grandel was arrested around 9:20 last night (Tuesday) following a traffic stop near 48th and Knox. Sheltraw-Grandel had been listed as a “person of interest” after authorities reported that Sheltraw-Grandel had been treated at a local hospital the morning of December 21st for a serious leg injury requiring 24 staples. He told emergency room personnel that he had kicked out a window “on a bet with a friend.” Sheltraw-Grandel was released from the ER before police arrived to question him.After breaking a window to get in, Sheltraw-Grandel allegedly fired off 5 bullets to break safety glass and get inside offices. It is believed that Sheltraw-Grandel injured himself kicking out the broken windows. Damage to the school is about $5,000. 2 laptops missing in the incident were recovered in a snow bank the next morning. Sheltraw-Grandel remains in jail.
