DUI Enforcement Numbers Still Rising
DUI arrests continue to rise during LPD's December crackdown. Chief Jim Peshong told KFOR News this morning that he is discouraged by the numbers. According to Peshong, there have been 114 DUI arrests so far this month, compared with 94 at this time last December, a 21% increase. 83 males and 31 females have been arrested, including five 18-year-olds; the highest blood alcohol content so far has been .290, the average is .160. Peshong said that he hopes the continued enforcement and education will help bring the numbers down. The You Drink and Drive, You Lose campaign continues through the end of the month.
