Heineman Expects Keystone XL Report Soon

There could be a Keystone XL oil pipeline report in Governor Heineman's Christmas stocking. The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has been working with TransCanada on the pipeline starting in Canada and pumping oil to the Texas Gulf, through Nebraska. The original route traveled through the environmentally sensitive Sandhills and over the Ogallala Aquifer. A new route skirts the heart of both, but it's still not worth the risk, according to opposition groups, like BOLD Nebraska. Last night, hundreds of landowners, along with supporters and opponents gathered in Albion for the last information session and public hearing on Keystone. NDEQ will have a report in the next few weeks. Governor Heineman has 30 days to review it.
