Friday night, you’ll have a good opportunity to look at stars through a big telescope. The Behlen Observatory near Mead will be focused on the planet Jupiter which will be visible for the first time in over 12 months. Physics and Astronomy Professor Emeritus Edward Schmidt said that looking at a faraway planet through a 30-inch telescope is quite an experience. Several other telescopes will also be set up, allowing plenty of time for everyone in attendance to take a good look. A formal program will be presented at 8 pm. The viewing will be available from 7:30 to 10 pm.
