Flood Will Run For Governor

Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood is running for Nebraska governor, calling himself "a budget-minded veteran lawmaker." The Republican Senator from Norfolk declared his candidacy last night (Monday) in his hometown, becoming the second GOP candidate to enter the 2014 race. Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy has the support of Governor Heineman, who can't run again because of term limits. Flood said his focus will be taxes, spending, job creation and infrastructure. Flood also said he will point to his work on legislation that preserved the death penalty, guaranteed concealed-carry rights for gun owners, and a statewide ban on late-term abortions.
