N-U Enrollment Slightly Lower

Enrollment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall is 24,207. It's a decrease of 1.6 percent from last fall.  Chancellor Harvey Perlman says the drop is partly due to the graduation of over 51-hundred students last spring, the largest class in history.  Also, he said, the figures show the first impact of the move to 120 credit hour programs.  Many majors are being streamlined to insure 4 year graduation.  Colleges with the highest enrollment growth are Agriculture, Business Administration; and Journalism.  Total enrollment on the university's four campuses was just over 50-thousand, also a slight decrease from last year.
