Hurricane Sandy has interrupted plans for a meeting in Maryland between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and officials from Omaha Public Power to talk about the troubled Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant. Instead, the NRC has decided to reschedule tomorrow's (Tuesday) meeting for Nov. 15 at Dana College's Gardner-Hawks Center in Blair. The public will be allowed to ask questions after officials discuss efforts to restart the plant. Fort Calhoun was initially shut down for refueling maintenance in April 2011, but flooding along the Missouri River and a series of safety violations forced it to stay closed.
