Woman Complains Visually Impaired Voting Booths Not Available

A complaint has been filed over accomodations for the handicapped at the Lancaster County Election office. A Lincoln woman has complained her visually impaired friends were unable to vote because the necessary equipment was not in place. Fatol Floyd says she called the Lancaster County Election Commissioner's Office Oct. 3 to check if they had their AutoMARK equipment running, but when they arrived, it wasn't available. Floyd says this is a violation of the Help America Vote Act. Secretary of State John Gale says they will conduct an investigation into the flaw. Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively adds certification deadlines and printing ballots held up running the AutoMARK machines for the first few days.
