The federal government is giving rural electric cooperatives in Iowa, Nebraska and seven other states loans to improve portions of their power lines and generating systems. In Nebraska, the Midwest Electric Corp. gets a loan guarantee of $6.5 million. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Dallas Tonsagera announced the $168 million loan program Thursday in Minneapolis at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
