Councilman Wants Lower Water Restriction Penalty

Get ticketed now for violating the city's mandatory watering restrictions and you get slapped with a misdemeanor on your record with a maximum $500 fine and 6 months in jail. City Council member, Adam Hornung wants the penalty to be less severe; an infraction instead, and he wants the change to happen quickly. Usually it takes the council 3 to 5 weeks to go through the process of changing a law. Hornung wants it changed in 1 to 2 weeks and says he thinks he has the votes to do it. More than 380 people have been ticketed for violating the city's watering ordinance since it went into effect August 9th.
