UNK Enrollment Hits Record High

Enrollment at UNL might be dropping, but it's peaking at UNK. This year's enrollment is almost 7,200 students, the biggest it's been in 16 years. The number of first-time, full-time freshmen jumped by 6 percent. UNK's director of undergraduate recruitment and admissions, Dusty Newton, says students from more than 48 states and 58 countries are at the university. Both academics and sports are drawing students to Kearney. The college was inducted into the Mid-America Athletics Association in July.
