The expanded and restored version of the Jimi Hendrix concert documentary Jimi Plays Berkeley hit stores Tuesday on Blu-ray and DVD. The documentary features footage from a show the late guitar hero played on May 30, 1970, at California's Berkeley Community Theatre. The updated release boasts a 5.1 surround sound mix by longtime Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer, and includes 15 minutes of bonus documentary and performance footage.
In addition, audio from a second concert that Hendrix performed at Berkeley College on the same day will be issued separately on CD and high-quality vinyl on Tuesday under the title The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live at Berkeley.
Meanwhile, an exclusive video from Jimi Plays Berkeley has been posted at RollingStone.com. The clip features snippets of Hendrix performing "Voodoo Child" and "Foxey Lady," as well as some footage of fans talking about the late rocker's impressive musical talent.
