Guitarist Joe Satriani is offering aspiring artists a chance to join him for a master class at The Guitar Center in Los Angeles.
The musical equipment retailer is launching a contest called "Master Satriani" to "inspire guitarists to reach their full potential." The program offer ten musicians instruction from Satriani and a chance to win an Ibanez Satriani signature guitar.
Contestants can record a part to one of 10 different backing tracks culled from songs from throughout Satriani's career. They can then submit their recordings on the contest website. Joe will personally select 10 winners who will be flown out to Los Angeles to train with him.
Satriani says, "I firmly believe that the best way to hone your skills is to learn from fellow musicians." He adds, "I'm excited to see what new talent comes through in these auditions and honored to partner with Guitar Center, Ibanez and D'addario on such a unique venture to give back to the guitar community."
Satriani recently completed a concert tour with the supergroup Chickenfoot featuring former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith.
