Linkin Park Delighted with Fans' "Positive Reaction" to "Burn It Down"

James MinchinLinkin Park’s fifth studio album, Living Things, is headed for a big #1 debut on the Billboard album chart, with projected sales of around 220,000 copies this week.  The first single from the album, “Burn It Down,” has already claimed the #1 slot on the Active Rock Chart and #3 on the Alternative Rock Chart.  Multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda says that he’s thrilled that the band's fans are enjoying the track.

“When you make a record, when you put out a new song, it’s everything you can hope to put out something that the fans react positively to,” Shinoda tells ABC News Radio.  “With our new single ‘Burn It Down,’ I couldn’t have ever expected such a positive reaction and I’m really excited for them to hear the rest of the record.”

Shinoda added that releasing “Burn It Down” was the best choice for the first single from Living Things. “Our records have taken us a lot of different places in the last ten years and that’s kind of what Living Things the record is all about,” he explains.  “Each song is kind of a comprehensive Linkin Park sound, it contains a little bit of each moment in our timeline and then also some stuff that we’ve never done before, but we all thought that ‘Burn it Down’ is kind of one of those songs that does that in a way that hopefully can bring a lot of energy.”

We’ll find out if LP scores the #1 slot when the new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 is released on Wednesday.
