LINCOLN -- If you have to be out in the heat again Thursday, take frequent breaks in the shade and get plenty of water. The same can be said for your pets at home. Offer them shade and fresh water every three to four hours according to Bob Downey of the Capital Humane Society. Otherwise, bring them inside your house. Downey says never take them anywhere with you in a vehicle, since the temperatures inside can be unbearable. The best solution he says is to bring them inside your home.
