EMI MusicWhile Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is thrilled that fans are enjoying his recently-released album, Oceania, they shouldn’t compare it to his previous work with the band.
“A lot of people say, ‘Oh, there's a familiarity in this Oceania,’ Corgan tells Rolling Stone. “But…the songs on a ground level are completely different than old Smashing Pumpkins songs. There's almost no comparison.”
Corgan added that fans who attend the band’s upcoming fall tour will get to hear the full album played live. “We're gonna play the album in sequence as part of the show,” reveals the singer. “It'll be kind of interesting in that it's a little bit of our ‘F you’ to all the people out there playing our old albums. So we're excited about that.”
Oceania is available in stores now, but you can check out every song from the album for free on the band’s website.
