Radiohead Postpones Tour Dates to Replace Equipment Destroyed in Fatal Stage Collapse

XL RecordingsIn the wake of last weekend’s stage collapse in Toronto, Canada, which resulted in the death of Radiohead's drum technician Scott Johnson, the band has postponed seven of their upcoming concerts overseas to repair their equipment.

“As you will probably have heard the roof over the stage collapsed at our show in Toronto killing crew member Scott Johnson and injuring three other crew members,” wrote the band in a joint statement.  “The collapse also destroyed the light show -- this show was unique and will take many weeks to replace.  The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace.”

The band added that they will be postponing their concerts in Italy, Germany and Switzerland, which were set to take place June 30-July 9.  The band will announce the rescheduled dates for the shows on their website on Wednesday.
