Guitarist Mark Tremonti Says Ideas for "All I Was" Were "Too Heavy" for Alter Bridge & Creed

Facebook.com/MarkTremontiEarlier this month, Alter Bridge/Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti released his debut solo album, All I Was.  Tremonti says that the timing was right to make the album because Creed was on hiatus and Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy was out touring with Slash.

“When I saw the window of three months when Myles was out with Slash I figured that would be a good time to put an album together,” Tremonti tells ABC News Radio.  “There’s a lot of ideas I had that I had thrown against Alter Bridge, thrown against Creed that still were not going anywhere and I think it’s because they were maybe a little too heavy in certain areas, so I took all those parts and made an album out them.”

Tremonti added that that he chose “All I Was” as the title track because it makes a statement about being true to yourself.  “I wanted to come up with title for the album so I looked at all the song titles to see if there was something within that I could take to use for the title and 'All I Was' just spoke to me more,” explains the guitarist.  “It shows people that this is truly who I’ve been all these years.  This is what I’ve wanted to get out of me and I think it was a fitting title.”

The guitarist noted that he has even more ideas “stockpiled” and looks forward to putting out another solo release in the near future.
