WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The 2012 Farm Bill was passed Thursday by a 64-35 bipartisan vote among Senators in Washington. One of the amendments to the bill that received passage was one offered from Nebraska Republican Senator Mike Johanns that would force the EPA to stop flyovers to monitor animal feedlots. The EPA suspects some ag operations of polluting water. The main Farm Bill reduces government spending by about $23-billion. It now heads to the House of Representatives, where they could pass their version of the bill before the two bills will have to be reconciled in conference. The bill would then head back to the Senate before heading off to President Obama.
