YouthInspire Winter Clothing Drive
What: YouthInspire is hosting a city-wide winter clothing drive.
When: December 9th through the 13th.
Where: Donations will be collected at Lincoln Southeast High School, Lincoln Southwest High School, Lincoln East High School, Pius High School, Lincoln High School and Lincoln Northstar High School, as well as the Leadership Lincoln Offices.
The donations will be given to CEDARS and the Lincoln People's City Mission.

Lydia was born September 29th, and hours after being released from the hospital, Lydia's parents rushed her back to the emergency room with what doctors now say is a metabolic blood disease. Lydia spent her first three weeks of life in the NICU at Children's Hospital in Omaha with her parents by her side. The family is still awaiting a definitive diagnosis. The medical bills have quickly added up. Please give what you can so Brandon and Jessica can continue to support their precious daughter as they adjust to her special medicine schedule and frequent follow-ups. Every donation is greatly appreciated.
Raffles will be drawn by 10pm, and must be present to win; Silent auction at 11pm and you do not need to be present!

Student price range from $20-$80. Raffle tickets will be $1 each, or 6 for $5. Raffle items include prints by Professor Dana Fritz and graduate students Amanda Breitbach, Chadric Devin and Allen Morris, and signed books by Keith F. Davis, senior curator of photography at Nelson-Atkins Musuem in Kansas City.

Santa, Birds, and Book Signings
What: Santa, Birds, and Book Signings
When: Saturday, December 14th from 1p to 3P.
Where: Fontenelle Forest Nature Center.
Santa, six raptors, Kirk Vaughan-Robinson, author of "The Chorus of the Forest," and the World Herald's Carol Bicak author of "The Littleest Lion" (along with the book's photographers Chris Machian and Kent Sievers) will all be making appearances at Fontenelles Forest Nature Center.
Holiday Crafts will also be offered. This event is free to all, and visitors are encouraged to bring a camera. Fontenelle Forest's gift shop will be open for holiday shopping.
New Visions Community Recovery Center

Impacr Kooser Art Event @ KHN Center
What: Impact Kooser, an exhibit of works by artists from every corner of Nebraska inspired by the poems of United States Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser.
When: Opens Monday, October 28th.
Where: Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City.
What: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Department of Art and Art History presents the work of this semester's graduating seniors in the "Capstone Exhibition."
When: December 13th through the 20th
Where: In the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A Closing reception will be held on Friday, December 20th from 5p to 7p. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibition represents students' most recent work that is a culmination of their coursework and exploration in studio art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
This semester's exhibition features work by 21 students in a variety of media.
The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery is located on the first floor of Richards Hall, Stadium Drive and T sts.
Special hours for this exhibition will be Friday, Dec. 13 from 8a to 6p and Saturday December 14th from 8:30a to 5p in conjunction with the Clay Club and Photo Sales.
Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30pm. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.

Doorways to Hope

Where: Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity Office
When: Submissions accepted till December 20th
Artist are asked to create a work of art using a door (any door) as their inspiration and starting point. Artist have until December 20th to submit their artist statements and sketches describing their envisioned door and who in the community they plan to work with.Submissions can be dropped off at the Lincoln/Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity Office, located at 144 N. Antelope Valley Parkway between the hours of 9a-12p and 1-4 pm. Artist can download entry forms and review the guideline information at www.doorwaysproject.org.
24 artist will be ultimately chosen to complete their doors and they'll be displayed throughout the Capital City beginning Memorial Day 2014 through October 1, 2014 and auctioned off at a special community event October 5th, 2014, to help build a new Habitat for Humanity home, and to help build walls for Hildegard Center for the Arts. Lead artist will also receive 20% of what their door makes at the live auction.

What: LPS to feature new "Learning Lunch" presentations.

Where: In the Board Room at LPS District Offices, 5905 O St.
This year's lunch series is called Built for Learning: An Architectural Historian's Perspective on LPS History, and will feature Ed Zinner, Lincoln's historic preservation planner and a member of the Lincoln Board of Education.
The Nov. 5th presentations will highlight the LPS schools of the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Doors to the Board Room will open at noon, the program will begin at 12:15pm., questions and answers will happen at 12:35pm.
Please bring your own lunch. Community members are welcome to stay after lunch for a tour of the new LPS District Office Building.
